Safiuddin Ahmed Shilpalay in Dhanmondi organized a solo exhibition featuring reproductions of works of art by the artist Safiuddin Ahmed, winner of the Independence Prize and Ekushey Padak.

The exhibition features 28 digital reproductions of Safiuddin’s works, including oil and watercolor paintings and charcoal sketches.

The exhibition, which opened on October 22, was curated by Ahmed Nazir Khokon.

“We often receive requests to verify the authenticity of works of art. We have discovered that most of the works sold in the market as creations by Safiuddin Ahmed are in fact counterfeit, ”said Nazir Khokon.

“We therefore thought of exhibiting digital reproductions of Safiuddin’s works. Visitors will be able to get a glimpse of his authentic works and art collectors will be able to buy knowingly reproductions. The exhibition received a huge response, ”added Nazir Khokon.

A digital reproduction of Safiuddin Ahmed’s oil painting entitled The Sun, the Tree and a Lonely Woman was featured in the exhibition. The work contains different shades of blue and shows a woman on the right side and some human figures on the other side.

His oil painting entitled Librairie à Paris is another work dominated by different shades of blue. It shows a man reading a book with a city in the background.

In addition, some digital reproductions of artwork created in charcoal and pencil have been featured under Black Series.

A reproduction of an oil on canvas painting titled Refugee of 71 shows a couple wearing seedy clothes and another reproduction of an oil painting titled Carpenter shows a carpenter busy at work.

The exhibition will run until November 5 every day from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
