The Global Women’s Summit 2022, the leading international forum for women leaders, now in its 32nd year, was officially held from June 23-25, 2022 in Bangkok. The international forum put Thailand in the spotlight with more than 600 participants from over 51 countries. ICONSIAM, the iconic global landmark on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, welcomed women leaders from around the world attending the Global Women’s Summit 2022 by hosting PRE-SUMMIT TOUR on June 22, 2022 at ICONSIAM. The grand reception featured Thai cultural performances in four regions and “ICONIC multimedia water features” at River Park, featuring the longest water performance in Southeast Asia. A splendid combination of light and sound and state-of-the-art multimedia technology showcased Thailand’s culture and identity and cemented ICONSIAM as a global destination.
The women leaders visited SookSiam, a city of Thai happiness and pleasure. The venue showcased Thai lifestyles and the rich cultural heritage of the four main geographical regions through food, arts and crafts, in the captivating local atmospheres of each region. Next stop was ICONCRAFT, on the 4th and 5th floors, an inspirational platform and Thailand’s largest handicraft center showcasing local artisans from across the country, promoting Thai craftsmanship excellence and glorifying creativity and wisdom. local craftsmanship. Delegates also participated in workshops on Thai fragrances and potpourri sachets. Various handicraft demonstrations were presented, including floral embroidery on silk, painting on Benjarong, carving miniatures, and making silver accessories on natural wood using the ancient Japanese working technique mokumegane metals that adorned samurai swords in the late Meji era.
Siam Paragon showcased the grandeur of the “Global Women’s Summit 2022 Welcome Dinner”, a magnificent world-class cultural spectacle
On the special evening of June 23, 2022, Siam Paragon, the world-class shopping destination, hosted the “Global Women Summit 2022 Welcome Dinner” for over 600 participating women leaders from over 51 countries. Under the theme “Magical Thai Living”, the welcome dinner promoted the magnificence of Thailand in the eyes of the world.
From the entrance to Siam Paragon on the ground floor to the dining venue at the Royal Paragon Hall on the 5th floor, Thai identity was showcased through decorations including sculptures, images of tourist attractions and Thai cultural performances from all parts of Thailand. Meanwhile, Suanplu Chorus performed for the leaders and distinguished guests, as did traditional Thai puppets from the Joe Louis Theater. Handicraft demonstrations from four regions were also presented, including Bo Sang umbrellas from the north, basketry from the northeast, floral carvings and garlands from the central region, and shadow puppets from the south. Some of the impressive souvenirs presented to the female leaders include Bo Sang umbrellas, carp-shaped woven hangings, and miniature flower garlands.
The welcome dinner featured Thai cuisine prepared from premium ingredients accompanied by spectacular performances including Ramayana Khon: The Sattayanaree Episode Performance (Sida Lui Faai). UNESCO has listed the Thai Khon Mask Dance as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Traditional cultural performances from four regions were also presented under the theme Welcome to Thailand. These included the Fon Tee Dance of the North, the Rabam Ton Worachet Dance of the Central Region, the Nora Dance of the South, and the Pong Lang Dance of the North East. Another highlight was the theatrical Tumrub Tubjak, a Thai boxing exhibition in a fun temple fair atmosphere.
